چکیده

The chemical communication between plants and insects plays a pivotal role in shaping plant–insect interactions ecological networks, making it vital component both natural agricultural ecosystems. Despite the considerable advancements field of ecology (Meinwald & Eisner, 2008), numerous challenges remain due to its interdisciplinary nature (encompassing evolutionary biology, neurobiology, chemistry, animal behavior, network ecology), as well complexity (including mediating mutualistic antagonistic relationships, multifunctional roles at community level). In this special issue Journal Systematics Evolution, we present collection 10 papers addressing these through original research comprehensive reviews relevant subfields. contributions can be organized into four primary themes: (i) community-level theory (Zu et al., 2022) application plant–pollinator communities (Yang 2022); (ii) history from phylogenetic macroevolutionary perspective (Martel 2021; Schwery (iii) various types, including 2021), plant–pest (Fang 2023), plant–fungi–insect (Xu 2023); (iv) an exploration different factors such distyly (Zeng 2022), odor dynamics (Feng structures (Zhang impact herbicides (Ramos 2022). Chemical Communication between Phytopathogens, Their Host Plants and Vector Insects and Eavesdropping by Natural Enemies

Evolutionary adaptations in plant, microorganism and arthropod interactions are primarily studied in systems involving only two of these groups: plants and microbes, plants and arthropods, or arthropods and microbes (Biere and Tack, 2013). Beside this, it was stated recently that there is emerging evidence that three-way interactions between plants, arthropods andmicroorganisms can play a major...

A Cross-talk between Plants and Insects

In this review, plant-insect interaction is discussed as a dynamic system, subjected to continual variation and change. Plants developed different mechanisms to reduce insect attack, including specific responses that activate different metabolic pathways which considerably alter their chemical and physical aspects. On the other hand, insects developed several strategies to overcome plant defens...

Insects on plants: macroevolutionary chemical trends in host use.

Determining the macroevolutionary importance of plant chemistry on herbivore host shifts is critical to understanding the evolution of insect-plant interactions. Molecular phylogenies of the ancient and speciose Blepharida (Coleoptera)-Bursera (Burseraceae) system were reconstructed and terpenoid chemical profiles for the plant species obtained. Statistical analyses show that the historical pat...
